GOVERNOR Anne Waiguru’s homes and offices in Nairobi and Kirinyaga were on Thursday morning raided by officers from the anti-graft agency.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating the Governor over alleged graft claims.
On June 10, EACC Central Regional Manager Charles Rasungu said one of the cases involves a number of tenders allegedly influenced by the governor.
Documents cited in the impeachment motion against Waiguru claimed that she influenced tender processes in favour of Velocity Partners Limited.
It is further alleged that monies to the tune of Ksh. 10 million were paid to the Governor for trips that allegedly did not take place or were not official.
The EACC is also investigating 38 officers from Kirinyaga County Government who are expected to record statements.
Kenyans on Twitter immediately sent their input with some demanding for the arrest of those stealing covid19 funds.
“Yani mushasahau Pesa za covid 19 Kenyans are like children being bribed with sweets waiguru is the sweet her case is about kirinyaga county we should go after the bigger cake some stole national funds” Lemiey Mugubi
“They are brainwashing Kenyans after sanitizing Waiguru and also using Waiguru to divert the attention from the covid19 theft ..this is a sideshow”. Wanyande Evans
