TEENAGE PREGNANCY: Ahadi Kenya Trust- The Anti Jigger Campaign team visited, 20 underage expectant school going girls under the age of 15 in Kangundu-in village in Kandara Constituency.
Many parents from the area have called on the local authorities and are seeking justice for their affected daughters.
The girls received donation of shoes, clothes, good stuff,masks and sanitizers.
In March, 2020, a report published in the Daily Nation estimated that one in five girls aged between 15 and 19 years in Kenya is either pregnant or has given birth.
Planning Principal Secretary Saitoti Torome, said that the country was in a crisis then. As if that was not enough cause for action, the COVID19 crisis has seen an increase in the number of school aged girls who have become pregnant.
In the latest statistics from a Kenya Health Information System survey it was revealed that a total of 3,964 girls aged 19 years and under were reported pregnant in Machakos county in Kenya over a period of four months.
