Days after flush floods left many dead in Marakwet, the Met department has given warnings of heavy rainfall and advised Kenyans in flood prone areas to move to higher ground .
Areas likely to be worse hit include Kwale, Kilifi, Mombasa, Lamu, Tana-River, Taita Taveta, Nairobi, Nyeri, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Embu, Meru, Kirinyaga, Tharaka Nithi, Isiolo and Samburu counties.
Others are Turkana, Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Garissa, Busia, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Nakuru, Narok, Migori, Trans Nzoia, Nandi, West Pokot, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Vihiga, Bungoma, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Siaya, Kakamega and Nakuru counties.
In other news heavy rains have left a trail of destruction in parts of Nyanza and the South Rift where at least six people had died in the past 48 hours and hundreds of families have been displaced.
This will deal a big blow to the war against Corona Virus epidemic that has affected many Kenyans with some in quarantine facilites across the country. Kenya has 296 positive cases so far with the number expected to rise given the carelessness observed in the nation.
