President Uhuru Kenyatta commissions Proton Saga assembly plant.


President Uhuru Kenyatta commissions the local assembly of Proton Saga saloon cars at the Associated Vehicle Assemblers (AVA) in Miritini, Mombasa County.

Speaking to AVA employees, the President, who was accompanied by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, applauded Simba Corporation, the Proton franchise holder in Kenya, and all other assemblers for supporting the Government agenda to revive the local vehicle assembly industry to support wealth and employment creation for the Kenyan youth.

The Malaysian company entered the Kenyan market this year after shipping in 30 maiden export of the completely knocked down (CKD) kits of the Saga.

Proton’s entry in to the country is not just as an entry in to a market of 51 million people but it is also a gateway to a potential market of 1.3 billion inhabiting the African continent
