In the war against Covid19 pandemic Texas has reported 26,171 positive cases with 690 fatalities. On a positive note 11,786 patients have so far recovered.
The Walker County wide curfew is still in place to protect life and property by keeping unessential traffic and people off of the streets between 11:59pm-5:00am.
County Judge Danny Pierce’s Stay Home Order is still in effect at this time till April 30. .
According to Governor Abbott retail stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and malls can open Friday, May 1 BUT with only 25% occupancy. If all goes well, that will be increased to 50% occupancy on May 18 (when phase 2 begins)
Barbershops, hair salons, bars, clubs, and gyms are NOT approved to open at this time. The Governor is hoping that this limitation will change in mid-May. Museums and libraries can open May 1 but NO hands-on exhibits.
Outdoor sports activities can resume but with only four people at one time. That could be expanded during phase two. Churches can begin slowly expanding services but continue practicing social distancing.
Vulnerable populations are still encouraged to continue self-isolation. There will be COVID-19 mobile test site May 10, 2020 9.00 am to 6.00pm at Walker County Fair Grounds. As per the flier, people will be screened for fever and/or chills, sore throat, cough, fatigue, nasal congestion etc. One can register by visiting txcovidtest.org or calling 5128832400 and the tests will be conducted by appointment only.
